S’mores Treats
Ooey, gooey Americana s’mores. Since we don’t always have a roaring campfire to turn to in our time of need for this treat, let’s make a kitchen version. Swap the rice cereal for graham cereal. My favorite part of this recipe is having for options for variety with the chocolate than a classic milk chocolate bar. Chop & shave down your favorite chocolate bar; I really enjoy using dark chocolate chips here for the crunch and the bitterness that balances the sweet oh so well. Minimal effort here as long as you’re willing to get a little sticky. Enjoy, favorites!
MVP Ingredients: Your chocolate of choice, dream big!
Kitchen Weapon of Choice: Your hands, covered in non-stick spray
Ingredients
1 stick of butter
1 lb bag of mini marshmallows, plus 1 C
5-6 C of graham cereal
3/4 C chocolate of choice, chips or chopped, plus 1/4 C reserved
Non-stick cooking spray
Pinch of salt
Directions
Spray or grease a 9x13 baking dish generously.
Melt butter low and slow, add in salt and marshmallows until melted, stirring often.
Add in cereal and half of chocolate chips until combined–see note below.
Flatten the mixture into the pan; Spray some oil or use butter on your hands to make the flattening process less sticky!
Sprinkle remaining chocolate and garnish with mini marshmallows (which I forgot to do)! Allow to cool and harden before cutting into squares.
Personal Note if you watched my YouTube episode: I have promised to show you my mistakes! These turned out super gooey, probably because I'm not a big measurer. And while delicious, these were not what I was aiming for. To fix this in the future, I would suggest adding less chocolate into the heated mixture and adjusting cereal ratios. Next time, I'll remember to top the treats with mini marshmallows at the end!
