Lavender Vanilla Simple Syrup
My first and most requested simple syrup, hands down. Lavender has had quite a moment the past few years; the bulk of coffee shops I encounter have a lavender syrup readily available for a latte. I was tired of relying on anyone else to enjoy this floral and subtly sweet flavor so I did a very Sara thing and figured it out for myself. Add elegance and depth to your coffee, tea, cocktails and dessert with ease. Or let this be the MVP of your next fruit salad (go check out my All Berry Salad on the socials). Last in the fridge for weeks. Enjoy, favorites!
MVP Ingredients: Food grade lavender buds & a vanilla bean
Kitchen Weapon of Choice: Fine mesh strainer
Ingredients
1 C water
1 C sugar
1/4 C food grade lavender buds
Splash of vanilla bean paste or 1/2 a vanilla bean, sliced lengthwise
Pinch of salt
Directions
Bring all ingredients to a boil then immediately reduce to a simmer for up to an hour. It can steep with no heat for hours as well.
Allow to cool; use fine mesh strainer to remove buds and vanilla bean pod.
Store in air tight container (ideally with a spout) in fridge for up to a month. If it crystallizes, it’s still good! Just warm it up for a few minutes to melt the crystals and put it back in the fridge.
